Holy Crap I Forgot My House Key…and I actually enjoyed it?
After checking my keychain again and again to see if was hiding in plain sight, it was nowhere to be found. No second key under the mat. No operational garage… I was locked out.

Who in the world gets locked out of their house and actually enjoys it?
Me? I guess?
I may be an oddball, but getting locked out of my house yesterday may have been my favorite weeknight of 2024.
I had a nice salmon dinner planned out. I was stuck in extremely uncomfortable work clothes. I had a splitting headache from a long day of work and commute.
“Why in the hell did I have to get locked out tonight?”
“Now what?” I thought to myself.
On the weekends I generally do Uber Eats for some extra cash. However, Tuesdays are usually the “slow days”. I figured I would try anyways.
Right as I got in my car, I got a $10 delivery request. I immediately accepted and headed for the destination.
Just like any delivery, I sat the food down on the porch, took a photo, and went on my way.
About an hour later, a notification appeared on my phone “Congrats! The customer tipped you an extra $20.”
A smile came across my face, I had my dinner paid for.
I ate at a local restaurant that I typically avoided like the plague due to the hectic nature of the place.
However, this time was different. They had a chill playlist going on, the employees were smiling and laughing, the atmosphere was just enjoyable to be in. I left the place fully satiated.
On a spontaneous whim (because what else did I have planned) I B-lined for a newly opened ice cream shop down the street.
Ice cream on a Tuesday night? Not me at all.
But did I enjoy it? 1000000%.
Not only did I enjoy the ice cream, but also a perfect sunset over the mountains.
Talk about a dopamine hit.
To conclude, what may seem like a misfortune could easily turn into something awesome; you just have to be embrace the spontaneity.
